2-1 - It's Here

My mom brought Mister and Ladybug home from preschool today because we are the middle of the 2-1-nap transition and the Wee One's nap starts 20 minutes before the end of preschool.  When she walked in, I was just finishing cleaning the kitchen and had moved the bottle of wine.  She looked at the wine and said, "Starting a little early?"  Oh, how I wish because it might make this transition a little easier.

In addition to pre-noon cocktails, I am considering throwing out my alarm clock or any clock in the house for that matter.  I don't want to know what time it is when there is the pre-5 am wake-up call from The Wee One's room.  There is something cruel about the pre-5 am wake-up.  It's dark so I could just pretend that it's a more reasonable time of say 6 am.  If I have no clock, then I won't know the difference, right?

Those in the midst of the 2-1-nap transition, how are you doing?  If you just finished the 2-1, how did it go?  I think I just need to commiserate.

  1. I'm not looking forward to it with LO because I imagine it will come around the time that my son is ready to drop a nap all together. Sigh.
When he dropped his morning nap, I did it when we moved to our new house. It was quite a few transitions at once so I don't know if it was a good choice. He did okay. He was definitely ready. He slept a little longer at night and the one nap started out as only 1 hour long (I thought I was going nuts) and then after a few months he was sleeping 2-3 hours for his nap.

  2. Mister and Ladybug still have an hour rest time in their rooms. Ladybug takes her favorite doll and Mister takes a few cars. I tell them that they don't have to sleep, but they need to rest and I would say 50% of the time they sleep.

I hope your transition is painless.

  3. I said LO! Whoops.

It is my fervent hope that we will continue on two naps for the little girl and one nap for the big boy until Christmas.

for nap time quiet boxes and it's giving me something to think about.

  5. Those are a neat idea and when they are tired of their doll, books, and cars, then I may have to put a few together.

I am happy she went to 1 nap because now I actually get an hour to work around the house. When she was on two naps, I had 10 minutes.

Anyone else in the middle of this transition?
