When I was pregnant with the twins I had to take a leave from my teaching position because I was put on bed rest. After they were born I realized there was no way I could be the kind of teacher I was and the kind of mommy I wanted to be, so I left my position. All of my things stayed there for the long term sub to use and let's just say she didn't quite abide by the rule of leaving things nicer than they way you found them. To make a long story long all my teaching stuff was a mess and I have never had a chance to really go through it. When I was looking for something for G and H I came across a zoo map. I knew G would love it and I was right. He spent a good 30 minutes studying the map. It was a great learning experience because we talked about a map key and a compass rose.

Fun with Food
I am always trying to mix it up with lunches. We do muffin tin lunches once a week and I have become obsessed with bento. I am not much of an artist and I usually come up with these lunch ideas about 5 minutes before I start making lunch. Last minute ideas are the story of my life.
Here are some fun we had with food last week.
Monsters
We used my mom's cookbook from when she was a child to make mice. They are really bunnies, but as a child I always insisted we were making mice.

Letter M
We are continuing our exploration of the letters despite G and H knowing all the letters and most of the sounds. A little reinforcement never hurt anyone.
We started off the Letter M by mixing paint to make magenta which turned out more maroon, but have you ever mixed colors with three-year-olds. They don't really understand just a little. You either get nothing or a ginormous glob.
We rolled marbles around the M with the mixed paint.
Finally we made mittens with hand prints.

Berry Cute Valentine
G and H celebrated Valentine's day at preschool this week. When I started thinking about the cards I just couldn't bring myself to buy the store ones. I am one of THOSE parents who doesn't let the kids watch a lot of television. They get 1-2 episodes of Super Why a week so the thought of buying some random television show Valentine's Day card held no appeal. Also H loves to craft, so I thought we should make them. Yup 20 Valentine's Day cards the day before the party.
I came up with "You are Berry Sweet!" cards with a felt strawberry on the front. To be fair the picture in this post is not the ones I sent to school because 20 cards less than 24 hours before preschool turns into a rush job. We used the felt strawberries, but it wasn't nearly this cute. IF we had had the time this is what we would have made.

Letter L - Ladybug
G and H love ladybugs and they love to do thumbprints, so what is better than a thumbprint ladybugs? We started by painting a body and head black. They added thumbprints to the wings and when it dried many, many hours later we put it together.
We finsihed our ladybug day by eating a ladybug sandwhich.

February Sensory Bin
I never did Blog about my January sensory bin, which is too bad since it was really cute. G and H also didn't get to really use it either because it seemed like the month came and went with a blink of an eye. Anyway here is February's bin.
